What is Soul Food?

The art of soul food is being able to spread love through food using many blends of herbs and spices with love being the only measurement. 

Why I Cook?

I am fueled by emotions. My children say it best, “mom creates meals when she’s happy, sad, carrying the weight of the world, uncertain OR can fulfill a need in others”. I am known to create an Edible Experience to nourish the soul. The ability to do this is my ministry, from my soul to yours.  

Who Inspired Me?

There were three women in my family who inspired me, my grandmother Ola Mae Anthony shared her passion and taught me how to cook for large groups she fed large groups all the time in West Oakland, Ca., my aunt Jackie Mae Patrick shared her (flick of the wrist) mastery of seasoning, and last but not least my mother Latina Simpkins who introduced me to the catering business as  a teenager. I developed a love for cooking and to appreciate the joy good food brings people. I carry Aunt Jackie and Grand-mommies teachings in my heart and soul! May they rest in perfect peace!
